The Psychiatric Genomics Consortium
The Psychiatric Genomics Consortium is one of the most innovative experiments in the history of psychiatry. We have unified much of the field to enable rapid progress in elucidating the genetic basis of psychiatric disorders. We have 800+ investigators from 36 countries and >400K subjects. The PGC has attracted a cadre of outstanding scientists whose careers center on our work.
Due to our open-source approach, there are 75+ papers that use PGC results, and we know of numerous groups that are using our findings to direct basic and applied research (including therapeutic development).
The PGC consists of the Coordinating Committee, ten disorder working groups (one each for ADHD, ASD, ANX, BIP, ED, MDD, TS/OCD, PTSD, SUD, and SCZ), a statistical analysis group (with a pathway analysis subgroup), and the cross-disorder group.
About us
The TS/OCD workgroup has been a part of the PGC since 2013. During that time, our membership has grown to include 225 investigators from 23 countries. Our group aims to understand the underlying causes of TS and OCD as well as their biological relationship with other disorders through large scale genome-wide studies.
Our interdisciplinary membership includes graduate and postdoctoral trainees as well as distinguished faculty in psychiatry, child psychiatry, neurology, psychology, biostatistics, genetics, and genetic epidemiology. Data currently included in the working group efforts are based on the work of several consortia and teams across the globe from North and South America, to Europe, Asia and Australia.
